Sundown Audio has been one of the leaders in the full-bridge amplifier category with the SFB (Sundown Audio Full Bridge) line. Now, it’s time to step up the game and bring to the car audio market a full-bridge amplifier that can perform better and eliminate the issues that the SFB line and other full-bridge amplifiers face during daily use.

In this post, we will take a brief look at Sundown Audio’s new entry into the full-bridge lineup. This new line of amplifiers is slated to replace the SFB line and for good reason. So what is Sundown Audio’s new line of full-bridge amplifiers? Well, it’s called the SIA line. The SIA line was, as I stated previously, a new type of full-bridge amplifier that contains brand new technology to protect the amplifier.

Before we jump into the nitty-gritty of the SIA line of amps, let’s go over what full-bridge actually means. I have touched on the topic of full-bridge amps before, but let me break it down for you again, just in case you missed it.

What Is A Full-Bridge Amplifier?

In a full-bridge amplifier, the typical positive and negative terminals are done away with. In layman’s terms, both the positive and negative terminals are active. This means that when there is a positive output voltage on the positive terminal, there will be a negative voltage produced on the negative terminal creating the voltage difference needed to get the speaker to react. By utilizing the full-bridge topology, the SFB amplifier can produce high power with less voltage across the rails.

The Low Down On SIA

Currently, there isn’t much information about the SIA line of amplifiers that have been released by Sundown, but what we do know is that this amplifier line is going to be a great line of full-bridge amplifiers.

The SIA line of amplifiers is now intelligent. What does that mean? In layman’s terms, it will stop you from blowing up your amplifier when the voltage drops too low. If you didn’t know already, full-bridge amplifiers are extremely sensitive to voltage fluctuations, especially when it drops. This “intelligent” technology protects the amplifiers from the low-voltage kiss of death, a common full-bridge failure.

On top of the intelligent voltage technology, the SIA amplifiers have a more robust power supply and a heavier heat sink in order to dissipate the heat generated by the full-bridge topology.

With all of the added features and technology that Sundown has put into the SIA line, there’s no debating that this line will reign supreme in the full-bridge amplifier genre.
