If you are planning a car audio system or planning on just upgrading your vehicle’s speakers, you can find yourself neck-deep in various options. The task of deciding which speakers or speaker systems to purchase and install can be daunting and frustrating, but don’t stress out. Down4Sound Shop has you covered. We carry a wide variety of speakers to meet any need you may have.

In a previous post, I talked about a brand that has taken the car audio scene by storm with its powerhouse amplifiers, but in this article, I will go over a few of my picks from their speaker line up in order to give you a better idea of what may work in your situation. The company I am talking about, again, is Crescendo Audio.

Down4Sound shop carries more Crescendo Audio coaxial and component speakers than any other online, or brick and mortar, retailer in the country. Why? Because we strive to be the number one source for everything car audio. So, let’s get down to it and look at my picks of Crescendo Audio speakers.

Coaxial Speakers

Symphony S-65 — The S-65 2-way system was designed to offer its listener the full range clarity of typical component speaker systems but in a coaxial design. The Symphony series coaxial speaker sets allow you to easily upgrade your tired, worn-out stock speakers with something that will definitely liven up your sound.

  • 100 WRMS Power Handling
  • 89.5 dB 1W/1m
  • Frequency Response 60Hz – 21KHz
  • Impedance 4 ohms
  • Mounting Depth 2.5”

Component Speakers

Mezzo SQ2 6.5” Component Set — The Mezzo SQ2 speaker system is fairly new to the Crescendo Audio speaker lineup. It was completely designed from the ground up to offer the best possible sound quality and performance available in a component speaker system. What separates the Mezzo SQ2 set from the others is the high-end passive crossovers. They have ultra-low tolerance capacitors and other features that allow for maximum sound reproduction while minimizing the power loss affiliated with a passive crossover setup.

  • 150 WRMS Power Handling
  • Sensitivity 90.8 dB 1W/1m
  • Frequency Response 45Hz – 22KHz
  • Impedance 4 ohms
  • Crossover Slope 2x 18 dB L/H
  • Crossover Freq. 3400Hz
  • Mounting Depth 2 5/8”

Pro Audio / Separates

PWX 6.5” Pro Audio Driver — I chose the PWX in the 6.5” version simply because the 6.5” driver is the most common size used in most vehicles. The PWX is also available in 8” and 10” sizes, but I will focus on the 6.5”. The PWX series Pro Audio speakers are designed to remain extremely clear, musically, when the volume is set to extreme levels. The speakers are lightweight and rated for marine use thanks to their carbon fiber and fiberglass cone structure and waterproof soft parts. This not only makes the PWX perfect for typical road vehicles, but they are also a perfect choice for boats, ATVs, and side-by-side vehicles as well.

  • 150 WRMS Power Handling
  • Usable Freq. Response 83Hz – 5600Hz
  • Mounting Depth 3 1/8”

FT1 Super Tweeters — The FT1 tweeter was designed with a few things in mind. The most important was mounting and installation. Unlike other super tweeters in the FT1’s class, the FT1 was designed to have a smaller footprint, thus making it easily installable in a variety of vehicles and in various locations. The FT1 series tweeter is available in 4 and 8-ohm versions to meet an endless variety of installation goals.

  • 80 WRMS Power Handling
  • Usable Freq. Response 2800Hz – 28KHz
  • Mouthing Depth 1.9”

With the endless amount of choices in-car audio today, it is hard to get a full grasp of the technical aspect of each brand. That’s why D4S tries its best to explain to you what we think would be the best possible options for your car audio setup. I hope you have a little more knowledge about the Crescendo Audio speaker choices available at Down4Sound Shop. I try to keep things a little more basic just for the new car audio enthusiasts, so if you would like more information about any of the speakers discussed in this post, head to DOWN4SOUNDSHOP.COM, or click the direct links provided within the body of this post.
